All international students applying to NYIT must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
exam and submit official scores to the Office of Admissions. A written based score of 550 or computer
score of 213 is required for full admission. If you score 500-549 on the written or 173-212 on the
computerized, you may be required to study English as a Second Language before you can be fully
matriculated into your academic program of choice. If you score below 500 or 173, you may apply to our
English Language Institute (ELI) for additional instruction in English. In addition to the TOEFL,
international students must submit the necessary documentation to obtain an I-20 form for permission to
study in the U.S. You must also meet the same academic requirements for admission as students from
the United States
